Devshayani Ekadashi 2023: Date And Shubh Muhurat

Devshayani Ekadashi will be observed on June 29, 2023, across the country. This Ekadashi will coincide with one of the biggest festivals of the Muslim community, Eid-al-Adha or Bakra Eid 2023. According to Drik Panchang, the Ekadashi tithi will begin at 03:18 AM on June 29 and end at 02:42 AM on June 30, 2023.

Devshayani Ekadashi 2023: Significance

Devshayani Ekadashi is also known as Ashadha Shukla Paksha Ekadashi. This special Ekadashi signifies the day when Lord Vishnu goes to sleep and wakes up after four months on Prabodhini Ekadashi. This Ekadashi arrives just after the culmination of Jagannath Rath Yatra which falls in the month of June or July, as per the English calendar. Chaturmas, a significant period in the Hindu calendar, begins on this auspicious day. Devshayani Ekadashi is also known by other names such as Padma Ekadashi, Ashadi Ekadashi and Hari Shayani Ekadashi.

Devshayani Ekadashi 2023: Parana TimeAccording to Drik Panchang, Parana means breaking the fast. Ekadashi Parana is done after sunrise on the next day of the Ekadashi fast. It is necessary to do Parana within Dwadashi Tithi unless Dwadashi is over before sunrise. Not doing Parana within Dwadashi is similar to an offence. The auspicious Parana time is 01:48 PM to 04:36 PM on June 30, 2023.

Devshayani Ekadashi 2023: Puja Rituals

Devotees should wake up early in the morning, clean the house, perform all household chores, take bath and wear clean clothes. Sprinkle holy Ganga jal all over your house. Now, place an idol of Lord Vishnu at your puja place and worship the deity, Offer fresh flowers and fruits to Lord Vishnu and chant holy mantras. Now offer home-prepared bhog to the deity and after that distribute it to needy or poor people. Post this, as this Ekadashi marks the commencement of Chaturmas, make sure to lay Lord Vishnu in a sleeping posture covered with white sheets.
