IT IS rather common these days for many people to have the flu due to the weather change. The persistent cough, headache, fever, and sinus-related symptoms are the ones that affect the majority of people. Although it is still unclear if the COVID has completely disappeared or not, checking is now crucial to daily living.
Other specialists also claim that all of the symptoms are widespread worldwide and may be related to H3N2, a subtype of the influenza virus that causes more hospitalizations than other strains and spreads more readily.
Dr. Shivanshu Raj Goyal, Consultant, Respiratory Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine at Artemis Hospitals, as quoted by Hindustan Times, said, "Both influenza and COVID are viral illnesses, but they are totally different in terms of viral families. Currently, in India, there is a surge of the influenza A family variant H3N2 among adults and influenza B and adenoviral infections among pediatric age groups. This pattern is mainly a result of the last few years, as we have not been exposed to subclinical influenza infections due to masking and the entire focus being on COVID."
H3N2 Influenza Symptoms
- Chills
- Coughing\Fever
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- throat pain, sore throat, and body and muscle aches
- Occasionally, diarrhoea
- Runny nose and sneezing
How Does The Infection Spread?
Even the droplets emitted when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks can spread the dangerous H3N2 influenza virus from one person to another. If someone touches their mouth or nose after coming in contact with a surface that has the virus on it, the infection may also spread. Pregnant women, older people, and children are three groups of people who are more at risk of contracting this condition.
