Gujarati New Year 2023 Wishes: The majority of the lunar calendars begin the year on the Shukla Paksha Pratipada during Chaitra month which is celebrated as Gudi Padwa or Yugadi. But the Gujarati New Year begins on Shukla Paksha Pratipada in the month of Kartik. Also known as ‘Bestu Varas’, the Gujarati New Year is a significant occasion for the Gujarati community. This year, the Gujarati New Year will be celebrated on November 14 (Tuesday), as per the Hindu calendar.
Most of the time, Gujarati New Year starts on Annakut Puja day or as Gowardhan Puja. It is an ideal time to close old account books and open new ones. These account books in Gujarati are known as ‘Chopda’, and are inaugurated during the Diwali puja by seeking the blessings of Lord Ganesh and Goddess Lakshmi.
