HOLI IS the festival of colours celebrated across the country with great enthusiasm and joy. It is the festival that celebrates the triumph of good over evil and the divine love of Lord Krishna and Radha. The love tale of Lord Krishna and Radha Rani is worldwide popular and an affair to be inspired by. The celebrations of Holi revolve around the legends of Bhakt Prahalad and Holika. This year, Holi will be celebrated across the country on March 08 with great enthusiasm and fanfare.
On the occasion of Holi, people apply colours on the face of their loved ones, enjoy delicacies, play fun games, sing and dance to drum beats, and much more. A popular traditional sweet, gujiya is prepared in households and enjoyed during the Holi festival. Gujiya is made with dry fruit fillings and sugar. As it is a sweet dish, diabetic patients have to be very careful before eating gujiya. Therefore, we bring you a quick and easy-to-make sugar-free recipe of gujiya for diabetic patients.
Easy Recipe For Sugar-Free Gujiya
Ingredients: Khoya, mawa, desiccated coconut, jaggery, cashew nuts, almonds, raisins, green cardamom, refined flour (maida), salt, ghee
How To Make It:
Step 1: In a pan, add mashed khoya and roast it on a low-medium flame. Remove it from the heat when it turns a little brown or pink.
Step 2: In the pan with roasted khoya, add all the filling ingredients along with some jaggery.
Step 3: Mix all the ingredients well and keep them aside.
Step 4: Now, prepare the outer covering of the layer of gujiya, sieve flour, and add salt and ghee into it.
Step 5: After this, add some warm water and knead into a firm dough. Cover it with a moist cloth. Keep it aside for at least 10-15 minutes.
Step 6: Now, divide the dough into small balls and make a small round shape for each ball.
Step 7: Fill the prepared filling onto each dough ball and moisten the edges of the puri and fold one side of the mould over the other.
Step 8: Press the edges of the gujiya and slowly remove the excess dough and reuse.
Step 9: Now, take a pan and add oil to it. Let it heat properly and then one by one add gujiya into the oil. Cook the gujiya until it turns golden brown.
Step 10: Cool and store in an airtight tin. Serve sugar-free gujiya to your family members and friends.
