THE FESTIVAL of colours is just around the corner. Holi is celebrated every year across the country with great enthusiasm and fanfare. This is amongst the most popular Hindu festival after Diwali celebrated in every part of the country. It celebrated the triumph of good over evil and signifies the divine love of Lord Krishna and Radha.

This year, the festival of colours will be celebrated on March 08. It marks the beginning of the spring season and harvest season. The celebrations of Holi begin much before the actual festival day. People celebrate Holi by putting colours on their loved ones, enjoying delicacies and many more. The colours of Holi signify love and joy. However, playing with colours can cause skin irritation, acne and other skin and hair-related problems in some people. Therefore, it becomes essential to keep a check on the type of colours you choose to play Holi with. Here's a list of some easy ways to choose safe and skin-friendly colours for Holi celebrations.

1. Check The Packaging

Before buying any Holi colour, check the packaging and brand of the product. If the packaging seems to have been tampered with, it is better to avoid that particular colour.

2. Read The Label

There are several bold texts on the packaging of any product. However, they can sometimes be misleading. Take some time out and read the ingredients, manufacturing date, packaging date, and warning printed in small letters on the package.

3. Skin Test Or Water Test

Before buying any colour, it is essential to do a skin or water test. If possible, do a skin test. Natural colours get washed off easily with water without leaving any marks on your skin. To take a skin or water text, take a small amount of colour and mix it in water, if it dissolves completely, then it is natural.

4. Shiny Particles

When buying a natural colour such as gulal, then take a look at its colour properly. If you observe any shiny particles, then it means that the colour is not produced naturally and you should avoid buying such colours.
