How Humidity Affects Skin: Different parts of the country including the National Capital have been experiencing excessive heat since the beginning of September. The scorching heat and humidity have made it extremely difficult for the people of Delhi-NCR to leave their homes. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the national capital will experience a significant drop in temperatures during the G20 Summit, which is all set to be held from September 8 to 10.
How Humidity Affects Your Skin?
Even with drizzles comes the increased humidity levels in the air that directly impact our skin. Excessive or too little humidity can have negative effects on the skin and lead to several skincare problems. It can make the skin dry or too oily, increasing the chances of developing acne or pimples. High levels of humidity can lead to excessive sweating, acne, breakouts, heat rashes and inflammation. Here are some effective tips to protect your skin from humidity and achieve healthy skin.
Ways To Protect Skin From Humidity
1. Know Your Skin
Being aware of your skin type will help you determine the things you need to avoid to keep your skin protected from humidity. According to WebMD, our skin type depends on things such as how much water is in your skin, which affects its comfort and elasticity, how oily it is, which affects its softness and how sensitive it is.
2. Keep Your Face Clean
This is one of the most effective skincare hacks to protect your skin from dirt, germs, bacteria and seasonal changes. Cleansing your skin with a mild and gentle cleanser can help remove the dirt buildup, oil and other unwanted debris. It also helps in getting rid of sweat accumulated over the face due to humidity.
3. Moisture Regularly
Moisturisation is one of the most important and effective skin care practices that one can add to their regimen. Never forget to treat your skin with a good moisturiser that increases the water content in the stratum corneum, the outermost skin layer, which prevents dryness. Moisturisation helps in retaining moisture and protects the skin against external environmental factors.
4. Wear Sunscreen
Wearing sunscreen is one of the best and easiest ways to protect your skin's appearance and health at any age. When used regularly, sunscreen helps prevent sunburn, skin cancer and premature ageing. Choosing the right sunscreen is essential for protection from the harmful UV rays of the Sun.
