Step-By-Step Guide To Wash Silk Clothes
1. Begin by filling a bucket with cool water and avoid hot water that can damage silk fibres and cause shrinkage. Ensure the water is clean and fresh to prevent contamination or discolouration.
2. Next, add a few drops of delicate detergent specifically designed for silk or delicate fabrics. Gently swirl the water to distribute the detergent evenly, ensuring a thorough cleaning without damaging the silk.
3. Immerse your garment in the water and let it soak for around 4-5 minutes. Then, gently agitate the garment using a soft swirling motion, taking care to avoid harsh scrubbing or twisting that can damage the silk fibres.
4. Rinse the silk outfit thoroughly in cool water until all the detergent is removed. Change the water several times to ensure a thorough rinse, and gently squeeze out excess water without wringing or twisting the garment.
5. For drying, gently lay it flat on a towel and roll it up tightly to absorb excess moisture. Then, either hang it on a padded hanger or lay it flat on a clean surface, allowing it to air dry away from direct sunlight or heat which can damage the delicate silk fibres.
