Cafe Style Matcha Latte At Home: Sipping on matcha latte has become the latest trend in the beverage world. Unlike the regular latte version, matcha latte is a little different and unique as it makes use of matcha, which was first discovered in China by a Buddhist monk, who brought it to Japan. Known for its earthy, bitter and umami taste and flavour, matcha latte is the go-to favourite of caffeine lovers in recent times. However, visiting cafes and investing in expensive matcha lattes might not always be a solution to meet the craving at distinctive hours. Thus, nothing can be better than to try a cafe-style matcha latte at home.
Matcha latte is an energising drink that is made from finely ground green tea leaves, which are packed with antioxidant properties. Creating a cafe-style matcha latte at home allows you to customise the sweetness and creaminess and also offers a mindful ritual that can elevate your morning or afternoon break. Here’s the complete step-by-step guide to make a cafe-style matcha latte at home.

Step-By-Step Recipe For Matcha Latte At Home
Ingredients:
1 to 2 tsp matcha powder
2 to 3 tbsp hot water (not boiling)
1 cup milk
Sweetener to taste (honey, maple syrup or sugar)
Method:
Sift The Matcha: Place 1–2 teaspoons of matcha powder into a small bowl through a fine mesh sieve. Sifting helps prevent clumps, giving a smooth, lump-free latte.
Add Hot Water And Whisk: Pour 2–3 tablespoons of hot water into the bowl. Using a bamboo whisk (chasen) or small electric frother, whisk briskly until a frothy green paste forms. This activates the matcha and brings out its natural flavour.
Heat The Milk: In a saucepan, gently heat 1 cup of milk over low heat until warm. You can also use a milk frother and use it to create foam for that luxurious cafe touch.

Sweeten Your Latte: Add your preferred sweetener to the milk and directly to the matcha paste. Adjust the amount based on your preference.
Combine And Serve: Pour the warm milk slowly over the whisked matcha. Stir gently or give it one last whisk to blend everything together. Top with foam or a sprinkle of matcha powder for visual appeal.
