Happy Independence Day 2023: Every year on August 15, people from all over the country come together to celebrate with joy and pride. Today marks the 76th anniversary of India's independence, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the nation from the iconic Red Fort.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi wore a Rajasthani safa, often known as a turban, this year. He has delivered a total of ten Independence Day addresses to date, and during his appearances at the historic Red Fort, he has donned several traditional attires. We've compiled a list of some of PM Modi's best looks in traditional turbans over the years.
2023

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wore a multicolored turban this year with a red, green, and yellow bandhani design. He paired the turban with an off-white kurta, churidar, and black jacket to complete the outfit.
2022

Prime Minister Narendra Modi sported a white turban covered in the flag last year. He wore a powder blue blazer and a classic white kurta, churidar, and turban ensemble.
2021

The Kolhapuri Pheta-style turban that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wore in 2021 had a long trail that reached down to his ankle. He wore a stole, a powder blue kurta, and a hat to complete the ensemble.
