International Sudoku Day 2023 History And Significance
This game was created by a Swiss mathematician from the 18th century named Howard Garns, and it was first made public in a French newspaper in 1895. Number Place is a puzzle game created by independent puzzle maker Garns. Number Place initially appeared in the 'Dell Pencil Puzzles and Word Games' magazine in 1979.
In 1984, the game was first played in Japan. The word sudoku, which means "the digits are limited to one occurrence," was used there. Number games are significantly more common in Japan since crossword puzzles don't work well with the Japanese language. In 1997, a New Zealand judge by the name of Wayne Gould brought this puzzle game back to Western culture. Sudoku puzzles were first published in 2004 by the Times of London and the Conway Daily Sun in New Hampshire. Since then, Sudoku has spread throughout the world. We have been commemorating September 9 since the World Puzzle Federation declared it to be the official International Sudoku Day in 2013.
