KARWA Chauth is a popular Hindu festival celebrated by Hindus all over the country with great joy. It is the festival which signifies the bond of married couples. The festival commences on the fourth day of full moon in the auspicious month of Kartik. The festival will be celebrated on October 13 this year. On this auspisious occasuon, married women fast for whole day and pary for their long life, happiness, security and properity of their husbands. The festival of Karwa Chauth is also known as 'Karak Chautrthi'. 

On this special day, women who observe fast, adorn themselves with sola shringar to resemble like a bride. Red color is considered very auspicious for the day as it is a color which signifies marriage and good fortune. Many rituals are performed by women such as puja, observing fast, sargi, baya, listening to vrat katha, apply henna on hands and foot and many more. However, among these rituals, applying mehndi remains one of the most important as it is considered to bring good luck and prosperity.
