Mother’s Day 2023: One of the most special occasions celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy across the world. Mother’s Day is an occasion of great significance celebrated throughout the world to acknowledge the love, care and efforts of mothers towards their children and family. A mother sacrifices her complete life just to take care of her children and help them build a better future for them. 

This year, Mother’s Day 2023 will be celebrated on May 14 (Sunday) across the globe. This day serves as an opportunity for children to make their mothers feel extra special and shower them with the love and care that our mothers pour over us. 

Mother’s Day 2023: History

Mother’s Day is celebrated annually on the second Sunday of the May month. It was first celebrated in 1908, by a woman named Anna Jarvis, who held a memorial service for her mother at the St. Andrews Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia. She started a campaign in 1905 seeking the recognition of Mother’s Day as a holiday in the United States when her mother died. At first, her request was declined, however, after 6 long years, in 1911, the US started observing Mother's Day as a holiday. In 1941, Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation designating the second Sunday in the month of May as a national holiday to honour mothers.
