Indian Places Banned For Indians: India is an amazing country, diverse in culture and has a renowned history. The country has evolved across many centuries, with civilisation and modernisation hitting the right places. People of India are given the freedom by the Constitution to travel to any place in the country and settle in any part of the motherland. However, the country holds some unexpected hidden gems where Indian nationals have been denied entry or even banned from entering the places. There are some places in India where Indians are not allowed to enter.
Government-defined protected zones, entertaining of full states, which mostly entertain foreign nationals but impact Indians too. These places deliberately targeted foreigners, provoking strong public reaction and shut-down allegations of racism. Here are the five places in India where Indians are restricted from entering.
Places In India Where Indian Citizens Cannot Visit
Red Lollipop Hostel, Chennai
In Tamil Nadu’s Chennai, Red Lollipop Hostel has a “No Indian” policy. They do not allow Indian citizens to enter their territory. They are only open to foreigners. They only allow visitors to check in after they show their passports. Moreover, this hotel claims to be one of the only hotels in Chennai that exclusively caters to first-time visitors to India.

“Foreigners Only” Beaches In Goa
Goa, the tropics, is considered to be the party hub for Indians. The Indians, as well as foreigners, enjoy themselves at the beach, with a bottle of beer and other liquor in hand. However, there are several beaches in Goa that are solely open to international visitors. The ban is enforced on these beaches, like Arambol Beach in Goa, to safeguard tourists wearing bikinis and swimwear from unwanted attention.
Free Kasol Café, Kasol
This cafe in Kasol town of Himachal, in the Kullu area, is another hotel in India where Indians are not allowed to enter. It stood out as truly newsworthy when the restaurant supervisor denied giving menu cards to visitors of Indian origin. This place, however, welcomes and serves people from Israel.

Broadlands Hotel, Chennai
This curious British-style property in Chennai permitted section with unfamiliar international IDs. Although, as per reports, they also permit Indians, a more significant part of their visitors is still from foreign nations.
Sakura Ryokan Restaurant, Ahmedabad
Sakura Ryokan is a Japanese restaurant in Ahmedabad with a sign at the entrance that says “Indians are Not Allowed.” As per the restaurant’s owner, the staff cannot speak Hindi or English and doesn’t feel comfortable serving Indian customers. The restaurant focuses on providing exemplary service to Japanese customers.

Russian Colony, Kudankulam
The Russian Colony in Kudankulam is another place where Indians are banned. The Russians established this colony in the 1800s as a strategic outpost to keep an eye on British activity in the region. The Russians were forced to abandon the colony in the 1940s, and it has been abandoned ever since. This is a popular tourist destination, but Indian citizens are not allowed inside the colony without special permission from the Russian embassy.
Interestingly, these places question the image of an inclusive and tolerant India where internal banning points out uncomfortable truths about both security and prejudice.
