Nostalgia Matching: In the ever-evolving world of dating apps and swipes, the search for love has been a hidden and understated affair. A dating trend that has gained momentum in recent times is nostalgia matching. This concept has drawn exes closer and created a sense of nostalgia between them. Gone are those days when sending a message to an ex or a past match was seen as a regret. While it was considered a poor decision, it is now believed to have become a dating trend where many people believe that it comes from a sense of nostalgia rather than a late-night impulse. A recent survey has found that online daters from India have seen that an ex-match gives them a familiar rush, especially when there’s history with a person and good vibes. Here’s everything you need to know about Nostalgia Matching and why people are turning to this trend for love.
What Is Nostalgia Matching?
In a new survey by dating app QuackQuack, 2 in 7 daters admitted to revisiting old matches and shared that Nostalgia Matching is a recent dating trend. The survey was conducted at the end of April 2025 among 8546 active daters from metros, suburbs, and rural areas between the ages of 18 and 30. Participants were chosen from various professions, including IT, healthcare, education, sales and marketing, content creation, finance, and other sectors, along with a small section of business owners and students. The survey found that the daters generally crave familiarity and connecting with an ex-match gives them that sense of comfort and safety. People are considering old matches not as a rebound but to explore the possibility of reconnecting with someone with whom they shared special moments.

Remembers The Good Times
As humans have selective memory and sometimes the rough edges of a past relationship can soften with time. People often romanticise the good parts of the relationship and forget why it ended in the first place. This makes them get attracted towards their ex again, especially if they are feeling lonely or rejected.
