Our eating schedules and the types of food we eat are two crucial components that have a direct impact on our weight loss goals. The time of your meals and the kind of meals you eat throughout the day, especially before you sleep can have numerous impacts on your overall health as well.
In a conversation with Jagran English, Dr Dilip Gude, Senior Consultant Physician, Yashoda Hospitals Hyderabad listed some healthy meals that one should eat after 8 PM to accomplish their weight loss goals healthily.
Foods To Eat After 8 PM For Weight Loss
According to Dr Gude, a weight loss diet predominantly works on one principle which is to decrease carbs and fat, while increasing plant protein and fibre. Avoiding high glycemic index foods(easily digestible and assimilable) such as white rice, idli, maida and sugars will certainly help as the emphasis should be to eat more of low glycemic index foods.
Multigrain or whole wheat roti, phulka, whole wheat bread, egg white, brown rice, millet, soy milk, soybeans, and vegetables as a salad- raw or boiled are examples of low GI foods. Also one needs to avoid oily foods(with high trans fats) such as red meat, sugar or sugar substitutes, ripe fruits, bakery items or processed or canned foods.
If one is not a diabetic fruits (not so ripe) can be eaten preferably 2 or 3 types, in moderation. Having 80%veggies either raw or boiled and the remaining 20% fruits is a good way to lose weight. Hydration is also key as many may misinterpret thirst as hunger. So plenty of water/buttermilk etc can help. Heavy dinners with high-calorie foods may cause indigestion, sleep disturbances etc and tend to pile up all the calories.
Peppers, beans, legumes, pulses, dals with olive sprinkles, salmon etc make a decent dinner. Blueberries, mashed avocado, nuts and seeds, egg whites and spinach also make for a good weight-loss diet.
