Pimples are a ubiquitous and frustrating skin issue that affects millions of people worldwide, regardless of age or gender. This common skin affliction occurs when the pores on the skin become clogged with dead skin cells, oil and bacteria, leading to inflammation, redness and unsightly blemishes. For many, pimples can be a source of embarrassment, low self-esteem and anxiety, especially during adolescence and young adulthood. Moreover, persistent or severe acne can lead to scarring, hyperpigmentation and long-term skin damage. The emotional and psychological impact of pimples should not be underestimated as it can significantly affect one's quality of life and overall well-being.

Weather fluctuations can significantly impact acne-prone skin as temperature and humidity changes disrupt the skin's delicate balance. The atmosphere's moisture levels, heat and dryness all interact with the skin's natural functions, influencing the skin's overall health, setting the stage for potential acne issues.

In a conversation with The Daily Jagran, Dr. Tanushree Biswas, Medical Advisor and Dermatologist at Kaya Limited explained the causes of pimples and remedies to manage them during weather changes.

Causes Of Pimples

Pimples often flare up during weather changes due to the skin’s reaction to shifting environmental conditions-

• In hot and humid weather, there’s an increase in sweat and sebum production. These combine to clog pores and trigger breakouts.

• In cold and dry seasons, skin loses moisture and its protective barrier weakens. To compensate, the skin produces excess oil which can also block pores and cause acne.

• These seasonal transitions disturb the skin's natural balance, increasing the likelihood of flare-ups.
