World Animal Welfare Day 2023: History

The history of World Animal Welfare Day dates back to 1925 when Heinrich Zimmerman, a writer and publisher of the German magazine ‘Mensch und Hund’, initially adopted this day and organised the first celebrations of the day on March, 24, 1925. Heinrich Zimmerman proposed to officially celebrate World Animal Day, which was unanimously approved in 1931 as a resolution during the International Animal Protection Congress in Florence, Italy.
