World Paper Bag Day 2023: With the increasing use of plastic bags, it is essential to take steps to educate people about the detrimental effects of plastic on the environment. Every year, July 12 is observed as World Paper Bag Day to encourage people to switch to paper bags with plastic bags to save nature and its natural resources.
We all must have been a part of the discussions over ‘Usage of paper bags instead of plastic bags’, but how often do we implement it? Using paper bags has enormous benefits for nature such as they are biodegradable, are free from toxins and do not release any poisonous gas in the air, which makes them environment-friendly.
World Paper Bag Day is an annual celebration that also celebrates the invention of the first paper bag machine in 1852 by Francis Wolle. The theme of World Paper Bag Day 2023 is "If You're 'Fantastic', Do Something 'Dramatic' To Cut The 'Plastic', Use 'Paper Bags'. Here are some reasons why you should replace plastic bags with paper bags and be a part of the change.
Benefits Of Using Paper Bag Over Plastic Bag
1. Smart Choice
Plastic bags cause natural harm by expanding the dimension of air contamination. They are not sustainable and affect the natural surroundings in numerous ways. While paper bags are not only eco-friendly but are also fashionable, environmentally friendly and durable.
2. Recyclable
Paper bags are of great use as they can be recycled, some industry sources estimate that an ordinary sheet of paper made from cellulose fibres derived from wood can survive only four to six trips through the recycling process. Paper bags are both recyclable and reusable. According to Earth911, paper bags can be recycled up to 5 to 7 times, making them a smart choice for reusing.
3. Save Energy
Enormous amounts of energy are saved while making paper bags as compared to plastic bags. According to the National Geographic Society, recycling plastic bags is a difficult task while paper bags are easier to recycle, and, because they are biodegradable, they can be used for purposes like composting.
