Volkswagen Tayron India: Volkswagen, the renowned German car manufacturer, is set to launch a more affordable version of its Tayron 7-seater SUV in India today. Notably, the brand launched the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line model in India in February 2026, and it recently shared a teaser of a more affordable 7-seater SUV, the Volkswagen Tayron. Let’s take a look at what can be expected from the upcoming Volkswagen Tayron in terms of design, features, and engine specifications.
Volkswagen Tayron India: Design
As mentioned earlier, the brand recently shared a teaser of the Tayron 7-seater SUV. The Tayron will retain a silhouette similar to the Tayron R-Line. As per the teaser, the front fascia will comprise the same set of LED DRLs with a connecting LED light bar and projector-based headlamps as the Tayron R-Line. We expect the front bumper and grille to be slightly redesigned, as the Tayron R-line features a sporty bumper and grille. On the sides, the SUV is expected to feature a new set of alloy wheels, and the teaser has also shared a glimpse of gloss black wheel arches and roof rails. The teaser also shares a glimpse of the rear end of the SUV, which will get a redesigned, simpler bumper and a connected LED taillight setup.

While the Tayron R-Line model features an all-black interior theme, the Volkswagen Tayron is expected to get a dual-tone interior theme. The teaser also shows a free-standing touchscreen and the digital driver’s display inside the cabin. Thus, we expect the Tayron to feature the same 15-inch touchscreen-based infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and a 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display as the Tayron R-Line. Other visible features from the teaser include a blue ambient light, a panoramic sunroof, and metal pedals. The brand has not yet shared the list of features to be offered on the Tayron, but we expect it to miss out on several premium features offered with the R-Line model.

Volkswagen Tayron: Engine Specs
While the brand has shared a few details about the exterior and the interior of the upcoming Tayr0on 7-seater SUV, it has not yet shared any details about the powertrain options. As per several media reports, we expect the Tayron to use the same 2-litre turbo petrol engine as the R-Line model. The engine will likely be offered with the same 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT), and an All-wheel Drive (AWD) setup is also much anticipated. The 2-litre turbo petrol mill powering the Tayron R-line is capable of generating a peak power and torque output of 204 hp and 320 Nm, respectively.
