Bihar Driving License: In a major relief for applicants in Bihar, the Transport Department has decided that qualified candidates who pass the driving test will now receive their driving license within 24 hours. Previously, the process took a week to 10 days, causing inconvenience to the public.
During a departmental review meeting, Transport and Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar issued strict instructions to the selected agency, emphasising that public convenience is the top priority and no laxity in issuing licences will be tolerated. He said complaints of delay must stop, and the timeline must be strictly followed.
Bihar Driving License Rules: Agency To Keep 90 Day Card-Making Stock
The minister also directed that printing facilities for chip-less laminated driving licences and vehicle registration certificates (RC) be kept fully functional in all districts. The agency has been told to ensure at least 90 days’ stock of card printing material in every district. Any disruption due to a shortage will make the agency fully responsible, with strict action to follow.
Official data shows more than 55,000 driving licence applications are received monthly at district transport offices.
