Bihar Police Officers, Personnel To Receive 22 Medals On Republic Day; Three Awarded Gallantry Medals

On Republic Day, 22 police officers and personnel from Bihar have received medals. Among them, three, including DG Kundan Krishnan, were awarded the Gallantry Medal, two received the President's Distinguished Service Medal, and 17 were given the Meritorious Service Medal.

Bihar Police Officers, Personnel To Receive 22 Medals On Republic Day; Three Awarded Gallantry Medals

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has announced police medals for 22 officers and personnel from Bihar on the occasion of Republic Day, recognising gallantry and distinguished service across ranks.

Among the awardees, three personnel have been selected for the Police Medal for Gallantry. These include DG Kundan Krishnan, who was the Superintendent of Police at the time of the incident, Sub-Inspector Arjun Lal, and Constable Jitendra Singh.

Two officers have been honoured with the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. The recipients are DSP Umesh Lal Rajak and Sub-Inspector Navratna Kumar. The medal, announced by the President of India, is awarded for long, dedicated and exemplary service in the police force.

The remaining 17 officers and personnel have received the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, highlighting commendable performance at various levels within the Bihar Police. Senior officers among the recipients include Daljit Singh, Inspector General of Police, Rajiv Ranjan II, Assistant Inspector General, and Ajay Kumar Pandey, Commandant.

Other awardees include DSP Shailesh Mishra, Sub-Inspectors Md Ainul Haque, Rishikesh Kumar, Manoj Kumar and Nikku Kumar Singh, and ASI Nagendra Pandey. Personnel working at the ground level, including Head Constables Sanjay Kumar Singh, Sukra Oraon, Dharmendra Kumar, Jawahar Lal Mandal, Umesh Kumar Singh, Om Prakash and Md Rafi, along with Constable Manoj Kumar Singh, have also been honoured with the Meritorious Service Medal.

Congratulating the awardees, the Bihar Police Headquarters said the recognition reflects the collective dedication and professionalism of the force and will serve as an inspiration for all personnel committed to maintaining law and order in the state.

Separately, two officers posted with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Patna have also been awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service. The recipients are DSP Ruby Chaudhary and Head Constable Bhola Rai, both posted at the Anti-Corruption Branch. According to CBI officials, the officers were recognised for their effective action against corruption, successful investigation of complex cases and exemplary service, which has strengthened the organisation’s credibility and efficiency.
