A significant lapse in security has come to light in the Rampurhari police station area, where a youth arrested in a liquor-related case managed to escape from police custody. The incident occurred at the Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), where the accused had been taken for medical treatment.
The Escape
The escaped prisoner has been identified as Vipul Kumar, a resident of Tengrahan Gosaipur.
Method of Escape: Vipul reportedly gave the police the slip by sliding his hands out of his handcuffs while waiting for treatment at the hospital.
The Lapse: He was under the supervision of two station watchmen. At the time of the escape, one watchman had left the premises to procure food, leaving Vipul guarded by only one watchman. Taking advantage of the situation, Vipul freed himself and fled the scene.

Background Of The Arrest
Vipul Kumar had been arrested by the Rampurhari police in connection with a liquor prohibition case. Following his arrest, police received information that he was suffering from a serious illness, possibly tuberculosis. After his health reportedly deteriorated in custody, the police hastily transferred him to SKMCH for urgent medical attention.
Police Response And Questions Raised
The escape has caused a stir within the local police department. However, when contacted, the Rampurhari Station House Officer expressed ignorance regarding the incident. This lack of awareness and the ease with which the prisoner escaped from the custody of watchmen has raised serious questions about the security protocols and arrangements at the Rampurhari police station.
