Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has once again landed in controversy after he pulled down a hijab from a doctor's face during a public event. The opposition party Congress has slammed the CM, calling the act 'vile' and 'shameless.'
The video of the incident has been widely circulated, which shows Kumar handing over certificates to AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) doctors during a public event on Monday. As one of the recipients was wearing a hijab, Kumar asked her to remove it as pictures were being clicked from the front.
Before the woman could react, Kumar himself pulled it down to open her face. The video shows people present nearby, including Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, trying to stop Kumar while some others smile and laugh.
Congress has shared the clip of the video, terming the act vile. "This is Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Look at his shamelessness—a female doctor had come to collect her appointment letter, and Nitish Kumar pulled off her hijab. A man occupying the highest position in Bihar is openly indulging in such a vile act," the Congress said.
Demanding resignation from the CM, the grand old party said, "Think about it—how safe will women be in the state? Nitish Kumar should immediately resign for this disgusting behavior. This vileness is unforgivable."
RJD, on the other hand, has raised questions about CM Kumar's mental health. Taking a jibe at Kumar, RJD said, "What has happened to Nitish ji? His mental state has now reached a completely pitiable condition, or has Nitish Babu become 100% Sanghi now?"

This is not the first incident in which Kumar has courted controversy with his actions. Just before the Bihar Assembly elections, he had come under fire for garlanding a woman in a public meeting in November. He even reprimanded a JDU MP, who tried to stop him.
