A shocking case of fraud has emerged in Patna, in which unemployed youths were cheated in the name of recruitment for the Patna Metro project. Fake interviews were conducted under the guise of offering jobs, to which a large number of young people were invited, and money was extorted from them under various pretexts.

After the matter came to light, the victims filed a complaint with the police, and an investigation has since been launched. According to the victims, an advertisement related to recruitment for posts including Data Entry Operator, Station Supervisor, Guard, Fitter, and Lineman in the Patna Metro was circulated on social media and some websites. After seeing the advertisement, the youths contacted the numbers provided and were subsequently called for an interview.

The interview process was conducted so professionally that it did not arouse any suspicion. The young people state that during the interview, individuals claiming to be metro officials checked their documents and assured them of their selection.

Following this, money was demanded from them for medicals, training, and file processing. In the hope of securing a job, many young people paid sums ranging from thousands to hundreds of thousands of rupees. A few days later, when they received neither a joining letter nor any satisfactory response upon making contact, the youths realised they had been defrauded.

The victims then contacted one another and discovered that many others had been ensnared in the same fake recruitment scheme. As the scale of the fraud became apparent, a complaint was filed with the police.

According to sources, the fake interviews and appointment letters used logos and letterheads closely resembling those of the Patna Metro, which misled the young people. Fake emails and website links were also shared to make the scam appear to be a genuine process.

The Patna Metro administration has clarified on this matter that any kind of recruitment in the metro is conducted only through the official website and authorised channels. Demands for interviews or money made via private numbers, WhatsApp, or social media are entirely fraudulent. Officials have urged young people not to fall for such scams and to always verify official notifications before proceeding with any recruitment process.

The police state that the matter is being investigated based on the complaint. Efforts are underway to identify those who issued the fake advertisements, conducted the interviews, and collected the money. Experts advise that young people seeking employment need to remain vigilant to ensure their hard-earned money does not fall prey to such scams.
