The Patna Metro Rail Corporation (PMRC) has announced that the metro services will be extended to Malahi Pakri, covering a distance of 9.322 kilometres by August. As part of the expansion, the PMRC plans to take three-coach trains on lease from the Pune Metro to operate between the upcoming Mithapur and the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) station.
 
According to a report by the Patna Press, the project has been divided into two phases, with the first phase to be completed by February 2026. The first phase will extend the metro from its current terminus at Bhootnath station to Malahi Pakri, increasing the network’s operational length to 6.107 kilometres.

Patna Metro Phase I

  • Route: 6.107 kilometres
  • Stations: Danapur Cantonment, Saguna More, RPS More, Patliputra, Rukanpura, Raja Bazar, Patna Zoo, Vikas Bhawan, Vidyut Bhawan, Patna Junction, Mithapur, Ramkrishna Nagar, Jaganpura, Khemni Chak
  • Timings: Metro services run between 8 am and 10 pm in Phase 1 of the metro station.
  • Current status: Technical work at the Khemni Chak remains incomplete, meaning trains will not stop there.
  • The construction work on this station is expected to be completed by February, and the stretch upto Mithapur is expected to be open by August 2026.

Patna Metro Phase II

  • Phase 2 is primarily planned to extend metro connectivity to the eastern and southern outskirts along the NH-30 Bypass.
  • Route: Mithapur Chowk to Didarganj (approx. 13–16.75 km).
  • Design: Planned to be an entirely elevated corridor along the Bypass Road.
  • Proposed Stations: Mithapur Chowk, Lohia Nagar, Kankarbagh, Income Tax Colony, Zero Mile (Interchange), Choti Pahari, Ranipur, Ranipur Chak, Check Post, Guru Ka Bagh, Didarganj.
