Patna Tightens Security Ahead Of Dhanteras And Diwali; Deploys 194 Teams And 108 Ambulances

Security arrangements have been tightened in Patna for Dhanteras and Diwali. Magistrates and police forces will be deployed at 194 key locations across the city. The district administration has planned special surveillance in markets and crowded areas.

Patna district and police administrations have completed extensive security and emergency arrangements for Dhanteras and Diwali. Magistrates and police officers have been deputed at 194 key locations across Sadar, Patna City, and Danapur subdivisions to ensure law and order during the festive period.

A 24-hour control room has been set up with 51 magistrates on duty, while forces have been deployed at all idol immersion sites, and 10 special patrol teams have been formed for round-the-clock surveillance. Additional patrols will also be conducted at sensitive areas and busy marketplaces.

During a review meeting on Thursday, District Magistrate Dr Tyagarajan SM and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya K Sharma emphasised that maintaining peace and security remains the top priority. All officials, including Subdivisional Officers, SDPOs, Station House Officers, Block Development Officers, and Circle Officers, have been instructed to remain vigilant and enhance local intelligence to prevent any untoward incidents.

To handle medical emergencies, the Civil Surgeon has deployed 108 ambulances across the district, equipped with doctors and essential medicines. Major hospitals, including AIIMS, PMCH, NMCH, IGIMS, and Shri Guru Gobind Singh Hospital, will remain on standby with burn treatment facilities.

The District Fire Officer has been instructed to keep three fire brigade units ready at both the district and Patna City control rooms, with additional fire engines on continuous standby in all subdivisions. The Executive Electrical Engineers have been tasked with ensuring an uninterrupted and safe power supply during the festivities.

Idol immersion in flowing rivers and tributaries has been strictly prohibited. Immersions will be permitted only in temporary ponds or on the banks of the Ganga under administrative supervision. All sensitive locations will be monitored through videography under the supervision of magistrates.

The district and police control rooms will remain functional round-the-clock. Citizens have been urged to report any suspicious activity immediately to the district control room via the provided telephone numbers.
