Amazon has launched a drone delivery service called Prime Air in 60 minutes. Designed to reduce delivery times to just one hour, the service is poised to revolutionise the delivery of gadgets like iPhones and other electronics.
With Amazon’s next-generation MK30 drones, items can now be delivered within 60 minutes of checkout. These drones can carry packages up to 2.2 kg and function even in light rain. Currently, the ultra-fast delivery service is limited to select U.S. locations and operates only during daylight and favorable weather conditions.
Customers in select US cities, including parts of Texas and Arizona, can now access ultra-fast delivery through Amazon's new MK30 drones. Capable of delivering within an hour, these drones can transport products like iPhones, Samsung Galaxy phones, AirPods, AirTags, smart rings, and video doorbells directly to customers' doorsteps.
On the official X page, Amazon posted a video and wrote, “Exciting update in drone delivery from Amazon: Prime Air is now expanding its selection to include popular electronics with lithium-ion batteries, like phones, AirTags, and even grilling thermometers. Customers who are in eligible areas for drone delivery in Texas and Arizona can now receive those items from order to doorstep in just 60 minutes or less, thanks to Prime Air’s new MK30 drone. This is a big milestone toward our goal of delivering 500 million packages by drone globally by the end of the decade.”

When will Amazon Prime Air Launch in India?
As one of Amazon’s fastest-growing markets, India naturally sparks curiosity about when drone deliveries might take flight here. While Amazon hasn’t officially announced plans to launch Prime Air in India, several hurdles stand in the way. These include regulatory approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), strict airspace controls, dense urban landscapes, and stringent drone safety requirements.
However, India has already begun exploring drone logistics. A number of startups and healthcare services have successfully piloted drone deliveries, particularly in remote areas. Given this progress, Amazon may eventually collaborate with Indian authorities—especially for last-mile delivery in semi-urban and rural regions—paving the way for drone-based logistics in the country.
