Reliance Power Share: Shares of Anil Ambani-led Reliance Power surged over 11% during intra-day trading on March 25, hitting a high of Rs 41.40 per share. This surge happened despite generally sluggish market sentiment. However, by afternoon, the stock had given back some of its gains; around 12:07 pm, Reliance Power shares were trading at Rs 40.24, still up 8.03% on the NSE.
The power stock opened lower at Rs 37.12 compared to the previous day's close of Rs 37.25. But during the morning session, it jumped over 10% to hit an intra-day high of Rs 41.40 per share on the NSE.
According to BSE data, the stock witnessed strong trading volumes, with 53.38 lakh shares traded, higher than its two-week average of 42.95 lakh shares. Despite this impressive surge, the stock is still down 24% from its 52-week high of Rs 54.25, which was recorded in October last year. The good news is that it has made a remarkable recovery from its 52-week low of Rs 23.26.
Tremendous recovery after 99% decline
Reliance Power has made a spectacular comeback after facing a massive decline in the recent past. The stock, which was valued at Rs 274.84 in May 2008, fell by over 99% to Rs 1.13 by March 2020. However, in the last five years, it has jumped over 3200% to reach Rs 38.74 as on March 25, 2025.
700% rise in four years
In recent years, the stock has also delivered impressive returns. In the last four years, it has surged over 700%, rising from Rs 4.69 in March 2021 to its current price, In the last three years, it has gained 190%, and in the last year alone, it has jumped 35%.
Reliance Power is now debt-free on a standalone basis
An important positive development is that Reliance Power has now achieved debt-free status on a standalone basis. This financial restructuring has boosted investor confidence and has played a key role in the strong performance of the stock.
