Speciality of e-passport
The hallmark of the e-Passport is its microchip, which is embedded in its cover, containing the traveler's digital photo, fingerprint, and other biometric information.
This chip is designed in accordance with global security standards, making it virtually impossible to tamper with or counterfeit passports.

What are application fees for e-Passport?
The government has kept the e-passport fees intact to avoid any additional burden on common citizens.
A standard 36-page booklet costs Rs 1,500, while a 60-page booklet costs Rs 2,000. This amount can increase to Rs 3,500 and Rs 4,000 if a person chooses the instant service.
What are the eligibility criteria?
An Indian citizen, whether a newborn or a 75-year-old senior, can apply for a passport. At the same time, senior citizens would get priority in the appointment process.
What is the renewal process?
If your current passport is valid, there is no need to replace it immediately, as the older one will remain valid for the entire validity period.
A new e-passport will only be issued when the old one expires or is lost.
How to apply for an e-passport?
You will need basic documents such as your Aadhaar card, PAN card, and birth certificate to apply. At the same time, the applicant must not have any serious criminal record; otherwise, the application may be rejected.
