Domestic equity indices witnessed a bloodbath in the domestic equity indices on Monday due to heavy, broad-based selling amid escalating geopolitical tension in the Middle East. Meanwhile, over 200 stocks hit their lower circuit till mid-day trading, according to NSE data.
The rising crude oil rate and energy supply disruption due to the Iran war are fueling the cautious sentiment among investors.
The Key domestic equity indices nosedived over 2 per cent during the session. At the time of writing, Sensex was trading at 72,653.62, down 1,879.34 or 2.52 per cent, and Nifty was quoted at 22,510.45, down 604.05 or 2.61 per cent.
200 Stocks Hit Lower Circuit
Amid selling fear in the domestic equity market, over 200 stocks hit a lower circuit, over 870 stocks touched a 52-week low, and over 3,000 stocks declined out of over 3,340 traded stocks.
Stocks Down Up To 25% In A Month
The stock market has been highly volatile during the month amid heightening geopolitical concerns that have later converted into a war, disrupting trade imbalance in the whole world. Among all Shares of GK Energy Limited, Reliance Infrastructure Limited, and Embassy Developments Limited plunged up to 25 per cent.
GK Energy Limited Share Price: The shares of GK Energy plunged 5 per cent to hit a lower circuit at Rs 98.12 per share on NSE. In the last 30 days, the stock fell 19 per cent, while this year till date (YTD), the Energy sector shares have plummeted over 35 per cent.
Embassy Developments Share Price: The shares of Embassy Developments fell 4.98 per cent, from Rs 2.38 to Rs 45.41 per share. In a month, the stock dipped over 25 per cent, while this year till date, the stock has crashed over 60 per cent.
Reliance Infra Share Price: The shares of Reliance Infra Limited tanked 5 per cent or Rs 3.87 to hit a lower circuit at Rs 73.59. In a month, the Anil Ambani Group's stock nosedived over 25 per cent. This year to date, the stock has corrected by over 50 per cent.
