After graduating from the prestigious Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Keshub Mahindra joined Mahindra & Mahindra in 1947. At the time, the company focused primarily on steel trading and assembling utility jeeps. In 1963, he stepped into the role of Chairman and led the company for 48 years.

Keshub Mahindra retired as Chairman in 2012, handing over leadership to his nephew, Anand Mahindra. Championing Institutional and Public Leadership
Beyond his corporate achievements, Keshub Mahindra dedicated himself to nation-building and public service. He served on several prominent corporate boards, was the founding Chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO), and advised the nation as a key member of the Prime Minister's Council on Trade and Industry from 2004 to 2010. In 1987, the French government honoured his international contributions by awarding him the Knight of the Legion of Honour (Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur).
