Gold prices soared over Rs 2,800 in the early hours on Thursday ahead of Dhanteras, leaving the Rs 1.46 lakh mark on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) after a significant cooling in crude prices after the US president lost midterm elections.

The yellow metal took a complete turnaround from a losing streak and bounced back from a position below Rs 1.39 lakh in the past three-four sessions.

MCX Gold Today

Gold futures, due to expire on December 4, surged Rs 2,875 to an early high of Rs 1,46,109 per 10 grams as compared to the last closing of Rs 1,43,234 on Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX).

Last seen, MCX Gold was trading at Rs 1,45,181, up Rs 1,947 or 1.36 per cent.

"MCX gold's gains are marginally lower than those of its international counterpart, as rupee appreciation near 94.49 against the US dollar is partially offsetting the upside in domestic prices. The metal is nevertheless outperforming MCX silver, which is witnessing a relatively modest advance following Wednesday's stronger global rally," said Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money.

MCX Silver: Silver contract remained subdued amid low demand. Last seen, MCX Silver, December 4 expiry, was trading at Rs 1,88,581, up Rs 846 or 0.45 per cent.
