Gold Rate Today: After days of losing momentum, the prices of precious metals--gold and silver--surged in the domestic and international markets.

In the domestic futures market, the MCX Silver (March 5 expiry) rose around Rs 2,000 to hit Rs 2,47,127 per kilogram in the morning trade against the last session's close of Rs 2,43,324. At the same time, MCX Gold (February 5 Expiry) rose over Rs 300 to Rs 1,38,075 per 10 grams as compared to the last day's closing of Rs 1,37,742.

At the time of writing, the gold futures contract was trading at Rs 1,38,004, up Rs 262 or 0.19 per cent, while MCX Silver was at Rs 2,45,180, up Rs 1,856 or 0.76 per cent.

International Bullion Prices

Last seen, Comex Gold rose 0.21 per cent or $9.40 to Rs $4,470 per ounce, while Comex Silver was up 1.40 per cent or $1.05 to Rs $76.19.

"COMEX Gold is consolidating near $4,470 following a healthy pullback, while continuing to trade well above its rising trendline and the 20-day EMA near $4,400. The earlier resistance band of $4,400–$4,420 has now turned into a strong support base, reinforcing the strength of the prevailing uptrend," Said Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money.

Gold Rate Today In India (January 9)

Mirroring the futures market, the prices of gold and silver jumped in the domestic retail market as well. The 24-Karat gold price today in India is Rs 1,38,540 per 10 grams, while the 22-Karat gold rate is Rs 1,26,995 per 10 grams. The 18-karat gold rate on January 9 is Rs 1,03,905 per 10 grams

Silver Price Today: The Silver rate today in India is Rs 2,46,010 per kilogram in the domestic retail market. The price translates into Rs 2,460 per 10 grams and Rs 24,601 per 100 grams.
