Stock Market Holiday on Mahavir Jayanti: Trading activities in the equity market will remain closed today, March 31, as the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) observe a holiday on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti.
Additionally, trading in equity derivatives, currency derivatives, electronic gold receipts (EGR), securities lending and borrowing (SLB), is also suspended.
Mahavir Jayanti is a prominent festival in India, which is being observed for honoring birth anniversary of lord Mahavir. The Jain community across the Indian state celebrate occasion.
Earlier, last week, the stock market was closed on March 26, observing a holiday for Ram Navami--the birth anniversary of lord Rama.
