Stock Market Today: The domestic equity indices dragged in red after starting the session on March 11 flat amid selling pressure. In early trade BSE Sensex was trading at 77,919.03, down 286.95 or 0.37 per cent, while the 24,184.75 was down 77.50 points or 0.32 per cent.
After having a sharp rally in the previous session on the back of a decline in crude prices, the Sensex started the trade flat at 78,238.91 on Wednesday as compared to the last day's closing of 78,205.98. However, the index fell into the red amid selling pressure as investors remained cautious amid the ongoing war in the Middle East.
Nifty50 started the session at 24,231.85 against last day's closing of 24,261.60.
"For India, crude oil price volatility remains a key macro variable given the country’s heavy dependence on energy imports. Any sharp fluctuation in oil prices has the potential to influence inflation expectations, currency stability, and broader investor sentiment," Ponmudi added.
