M Chinnaswamy Stampede: A Shankar and ES Jairam have stepped down from the position of secretary and treasurer of Karnataka State Cricket Association and took full responsibility for the deadly stampede which resulted in 11 people dying in RCB's IPL title win celebrations. Both Shankar and Jairam issued a joint statement and reckoned that they had resigned from their positions on Thursday and also submitted the same to the KSCA president.

"...due to the unforeseen and unfortunate events that have unfolded in the last two days, and though our role was minimal, we wish to state that we have tendered our resignation to our respective posts as the Secretary and Treasurer of the Karnataka State Cricket Association," the statement released by them said.

Raghuram Bhat, who is the President of KSCA, secretary Shankar and treasurer Jayaram had revealed to the Karnataka High Court that the association wasn't responsible for the gate management and crowd management and that they had taken permission to organize RCB's victory celebrations just the Vidhan Soudha.

Although the felicitation ceremony being held at the Vidhan Soudha happened without any incident fans at the M Chinnaswamy stadium gathered in large numbers as an RCB invitation on social media had gone viral, which was later removed.

The planned victory parade didn't happen but the victory celebration inside the venue continued to be held even though the tragedy had already begun to strike outside.
