T20 World Cup 2026: India's swashbuckling opener Abhishek Sharma, who has been in a slump with three consecutive ducks so far in the T20 World Cup 2026, has shared his first reaction to it. Notably, India have remained undefeated in their title-defending campaign so far, with four wins out of four in the group stage. The Super Eight matches in the World Cup will be more challenging as India will need their fearless opener back in form as they face South Africa on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The statistics highlight the downturn. He has recorded five ducks in his last seven matches. In total, six out of his 40 T20I innings have ended without scoring, with the first occurring on his debut in July 2024.

The reigning champions will face Zimbabwe next, and afterwards the West Indies, as they aim for a spot in the semi-finals. Behind the scenes, Abhishek has been diligently working on training, eager to regain his form. However, he confesses that he feels no pressure.

“I just enjoy my batting," he said in a video shared by Star Sports. “I stopped taking pressure two years ago because I realised the process is in my hands. Practice and training are what I can control, and that’s what I focus on. I enjoy this, so there’s no pressure as such."

He realizes that his journey will experience highs and lows as they are a natural part of anyone's Cricketing career.

“Batters always go through ups and downs. Sometimes the runs come, sometimes they don’t. But I’ve decided that I will play a certain way, with a certain intent. I may or may not succeed, but I won’t change my process or mindset," he said.

India's match against South Africa will begin at 7 PM IST.
