Asian Games 2026: BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla on Tuesday put an end to rumours of India sending its B-team to the Asian Games in Japan over accommodation concerns, saying that the board is satisfied with the facilities in Aichi-Nagoya and will "send our most talented players".

The BCCI in June had announced the Men's squad for the Asian Games 2026 in Japan. However, reports emerged last month raising concerns over the hotel and ground facilities in Aichi-Nagoya, stating that the BCCI is mulling over sending its B-team for the marquee event.

Shukla further confirmed that the squad announced in June will travel to Japan for the Asian Games. "As far as Asian Games are concerned, we are participating in and it's I mean this is myth or this is a complete rumour that we are sending our B team. No, our full contingent is going with the most talented players. And I hope that we'll definitely win," Shukla said.

On the facilities in Aichi-Nagoya, Shukla said that though the accommodations in Nagoya are not 5-star, they are well maintained, and the authorities have assured the board that players won't face any difficulty in staying there. Calling the Asians a "family", Shukla said that it won't be suitable for players to stay in Tokyo and Osaka and play games in Aichi-Nagoya.

"That (accommodation) was the problem because Nagoya hasn't got many hotels. Tokyo is one-and-a-half hour by bullet train. So is Osaka. But you know, I mean, this is the family. Asian Games, you know, all that participants are like families. It doesn't look like some teams stay in Tokyo, some stay in Osaka," he said.

"So it has been decided that we'll live there and hotel accommodation, definitely those are not of five star but good accommodation. So we have organized everything," the BCCI Vice President added.

Shukla further said that the Japanese authorities have addressed concerns regarding grounds, dressing rooms and pitches. "The main concern of ours, was the ground and wickets and dressing rooms, they have addressed and now you know, dressing rooms are also fine and so are the, you know, the other facilities in the ground, including wickets," he said.

Concerns over the teams' accommodation in the multi-game event set to happen in Aichi-Nagoya emerged after several top Asian teams questioned the facilities and accommodation arrangements for the men's and women's T20 event, scheduled to run from September 19 to October 3.
