With the visitors trailing 2-0 in the ongoing test series, soon-to-be debutant Saim Ayub and spinner Sajid Khan have been named in Pakistan's playing XI for the third test to be played in Sydney. Notably, both Saim and Sajid will feature in the playing XI in place of opener Imam-ul-Haq and pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Notably, Pakistan have roped an extra spinner in the form of Sajid Khan as Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) is known to provide extra assistance to spinners. On the other hand, Imam has not been able to prove himself as an opener which forced Shan Masood-led side to rope in Saim, a 20-year-old from Karachi.

Pakistan captain Masood has a different set of problems to contemplate as he looks to motivate a team that was mauled in the opener and failed to exploit their opportunities to level the series in the second test.

Masood has already made it clear that he is a skipper who looks more on the positives and felt the fact that Pakistan had been competitive at times in Melbourne augured well.

"I thought we played some very good cricket," he said. "But look, we're playing the best side in the world ... and if you give them a sniff, they will pounce on any opportunities.

"We have to make sure that we're not making a lot of mistakes to close out games."
