Zakir Hasan hammers two brilliant boundaries off Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah's over in the first over.

Shubman Gill bounces back with a century in the second in Chennai after a duck in the first innings. Brings up his ton in 161 balls.

And Pant welcomes him by taking a single as the ball goes towards deep square leg. Mehidy then bowls a dot ball to Gill. He ends the over by bowling a dot ball to Pant.

The live pictures from the ground show that there has been some rain in Chennai but the briadcasters have confirmed that the Day 3 will start on time, which is excellent news. We are just about 20 minutes away from the start, so stay tuned!

With things turning out at a rapid pace, a result before Day 5 seems highly likely. The first hour of the first session today could well set the tone for the remainder of this intriguing contest. Will India press home their advantage or can Bangladesh spark a dramatic turnaround? The stage is set for another riveting day of Test cricket. Stay tuned as the first ball isn't far away!

It is called a 'movind day' by the pundits but this game has moved at a brisk pace and might as well gets wrapped before the fifth day or so, given how things have panned out so far. But as of now, India holds a strong position after taking the broad lead of 308 runs. Whereas, Bangladesh is aiming for a miraculous comeback.

Bangladesh are in a tough position and this stage, it looks like that the game has gone beyond their reach. However, if they can remove the remaining seven wickets quickly, they may have a chance.

Kohli could only score 17 in the second innings but he broke a big Sachin Tendulkar record. Kohli scored 12000 runs at home in 243 innings and became the fastest to reach the milestone, toppling Tendulkar, who took 267 innings.

Despite the strong position in the match, India will be upset how things went for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as both endured poor outings in both innings.

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Day 3 of the first Test between India and Bangladesh. The hosts find themselves in a commanding position as they lead Bangladesh by 308 runs. India were 81-3 at stumps on Day 2 and they would look to take the lead to 450+ before asking Bangladesh to bat.

That'll be the end of the day's play and India are in a strong position at the moment despite the late dismissal of Virat Kohli in an unusual way. Shubman Gill (33) and Rishabh Pant (12) at the crease. India's lead has gone past 300.

IND: 81/3 (23) 2nd innings, lead by 308 runs

Wicket! This is a huge blow to India moments ahead of the stumps as Virat Kohli heads back to the pavilion. He looked good for his 17 runs before Mehidy trapped him in front. After a little chat with Gill at the other end, Virat decided against taking a DRS. India are three down now.

IND: 67/3 (20), lead by 294 runs

India will be looking to end the day with no more wickets. Both Gill and Virat have looked good so far. India go past 50 in this second innings.

IND: 50/2 (12) 2nd innings, lead by 278 runs

Wicket! There's another one. Bangladesh are building spirits here as they get another wicket in the second innings. Jaiswal looked good for a while but has to depart for 10 as Nahid gets the better of him.

IND: 28/2 (7) 2nd innings, lead by 255 runs

Wicket! There's the first success for Bangladesh in the second innings as Taskin gets the big breakthrough, removes Rohit for 5 runs. A surprise with a bit of bounce and the Indian skipper edged it towards the slip cordon.

IND: 16/1 (3) 2nd innings, lead by 243 runs.

India have not given a follow-up and will bat again. Skipper Rohit and Jaiswal have taken the crease.

Bangladesh have been bowled out for 149 in their first innings, trail by 227 runs. Mohammed Siraj picked up the last wicket as he dismissed Nahid for 11. Bumrah finished with four wickets.

BAN: 149 all-out (47.1) 1st innings

Wicket! Gone....well, that was coming. A brilliant yorker to end Taskin's fighting stay at the crease. He departs for 11 as Bumrah gets his fourth wicket of the innings.

BAN: 130/9 (43) 1st innings

Bumrah and Ashwin have kicked off the final session brilliantly. They have been spot-on with their line and lengths. Mehidy and Tasking, on the other hand, will be looking to add as many runs as possible with just two wickets remaining for the visitors.

BAN: 130/8 (41) 1st innings

India will enjoy their tea as Hasan Mahmud falls just at the stroke of 20-minute break. Jasprit Bumrah picks up his third wicket. Bangladesh now 8 down with 112 on the board as they trail by 264.

That is some luck for Team India. Shakib Al Hasan, on the other hand, will be kicking himself for this dismissal. It took an inside edge and ricochet off the boot as wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant did the rest. BAN 92/7 (31)

Litton Das was looking to attack Jadeja against the spin and paid the price. It took the edge and went straight up as sub fielder Dhruv Jurel took a great catch. Bangladesh six down. BAN 91/6 (28.2)

Rohit Sharma have introduced both Ashwin and Jadeja in tandem to counter the pair. The spin twins who bailed India out of trouble in batting, are doing their best to get a breakthrough here. However, there is no assistance for spinners so far.

An important Bangladesh batting pair - Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Das are trying to stitch up a partnership here. India cannot take this one lightly as this pair can built a revival from here.

Another one down and this time, it is Mushfiqur Rahim who is back in the hut. Big jolt to the Bangla tigers. Jasprit Bumrah picks up his second wicket. Things have escalated from bad to worse for the visitors. BAN 40/5 (13)

Not the start Bangladesh were hoping for hoping for as they have lost another wicket post lunch and this time, it is Mohammed Siraj who gets an edge. Najmul Hasan Shanto departs, the captain, departs as Kohli takes a safe catch in the slips.

Akash Deep is the new bowler. And he is on a hattrick ball as he dismissed Mominul Haq on the previous ball. Mushfiqur Rahim is the new batter. And Akash Deep misses his well deserved hat-trick. He ends the over by bowling a dot ball to Mushfiqur.

Mohammed Siraj comes back into the attack. He bowls a dot ball to Zakir. Shanto takes a single as the ball hoes towards deep square leg. Shanto ends the over by taking a single as the ball goes towards mid-off. Its turns out to be a no-ball.

Both the players have entered the field once again after the short break. Jasprit Bumrah opened India's bowling attack. And he immediately dismissed Shadman Islam. Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto is the new batter.

Hasan Mahmud comes back into the attack and immediately dismisses Jasprit Bumrah and he completes his five-for and thus wrapped the Indian innings by achieveing a huge milestone.

Taskin Ahmed has rattled India's lower-batting order on the morning of Day 2 as he dismissed the in-form batter R Ashwin. Mohammed Siraj is the new batter. He ends the over by bowling a dot ball to Siraj.

Taskin Ahmed comes back into the attack. Ashwin welcomes him by taking a single as the ball goes towards deep square leg. Time for drink break. Taskin strikes again as he dismisses Akash Deep as he tries to go big but the fielder standing at slips takes an easy catch. Jasprit Bumrah is the new batter. He ends the over with a four as the ball goes towards long-off.

Hasan Mahmud comes back into the attack. He bowls a dot ball to Akash Deep as the batter tries to defend it. Akash Deep survives a dropped catch on 8. He then smashes a four as the ball goes towards long-off. Mahmud ends the over by bowling a dot ball to Akash Deep.

Taskin bowls the next over as well. And he immediately strikes back by dismissing the in-form batter Ravindra Jadeja. Akash Deep is the new batter. And once its a good over from Taskin.

The players of both the teams have entered the field as action on Day 2 has began. Taskin Akmed begins the first over on Day 2 and immediately makes an appeal of dismissal for Ravindra Jadeja. The second new ball has already been taken. Taskin bowled his third consecutive dot ball. A good maiden over from Taskin Ahmed.

"I said a few weeks back as well that considering the amount of international matches Rohit and Virat played in the last five years, they could have been picked for the Duleep Trophy and I am sure the time out there would have just held them at last in the first innings where they suddenly came out cold and having had to bat first", he commented.

Both captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were dismissed cheaply, managing just six runs each, leaving India in an early bind.

Bangladesh need to get rid of R Ashwin and Jadeja as soon as possible as the game is drifting away from them. This is the last recognised batting pair and if they can get the duo or even one of them out early, they can wrap up India inning soon. The conditions will be favourable for bowling in the morning session.

Bangladesh were 10 overs short of their 90 over target and now face a risk of getting the WTC points docket. They lost three WTC points during the 1st Test vs Pakistan as well.

R Ashwin broke a plethora of records during his magnificent century. He is now the second leading century maker in Tests while batting at No.8 or below, only behind Daniel Vettori. R Ashwin has four hundreds while batting at 8 or below while Vettori had 5. Ashwin has also joined the rare list of players with multiple hundreds and five-wicket hauls at the venue.

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Day 2 of the first Test between India and Bangladesh. The hosts find themselves in good position at 339/6. R Ashwin scored a brilliant 102 not out on Day 1 and Ravindra Jadeja made 86 not out to bail India out from a miserable position of 144/6. The pair would now look to take India go past the 400-run mark in the first innings.

India will be mighty pleased with the effort of Ashwin and Jadeja who built up a 195-run partnership to bail the side out. Bangladesh, who were ruling the roost for the first two sessions, were left clueless courtesy of a brilliant partnership between the two all-rounders.

Ravichandran Ashwin ends the day on a high with an unbeaten 108 alongside Ravindra Jadeja, who stands at 86 not out.

Yet another homecoming masterclass from Ashwin, bringing up his sixth Test century off 108 balls and his second Test hundred in Chennai.

A 150-run partnership between Ashwin and Jadeja takes India past the 300-run mark.

Ravindra Jadeja brings up his half-century in 73 balls with his trademark sword celebration and India continues to fight back in Chennai.

💯 partnership 🆙 for the 7th wicket!

Resilient batting from the two Ravis in the middle 🤝

Ravichandran Ashwin lights up the Chepauk with a cracking half-century. Ashwin brings up his 15th fifty in Test cricket in front of his home crowd with the loudest cheer of the day, reviving India from the early dents.

After Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja also changes gear to put India in a comfortable position, going ahead with a solid lead. As this partnership continues to flourish, the focus shifts to surpassing the 250-run benchmark.

Runs are coming thick and fast for India as Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin bring up 50-run stand between each other. Can India reach 300 from here?

Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin are not holding back with their shots. A six over square leg and India are getting some important runs here.

Another session of day 1 goes to Bangladesh as India lose three important middle-order wickets in the post-lunch session. Hasan Mahmud, Nahid Rana and Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked up a wicket each. The only silver lining for India was Yashasvi Jaiswal who got to his fifty. Currently, local guy Ashwin and adopted local guy Ravindra Jadeja are in the middle for India at Tea Break.

Back to back wickets for Bangladesh and India are in deep trouble now. KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal are back in the hut. Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin are the last recognised batter pair in the middle.

Bangladesh are yet to introduce spinners from both ends. They are taking their chance with a pacer from one end to keep Indian batters on their toes.

Fifty for Yashasvi Jaiswal. He has developed a liking for test cricket for sure. These are testing conditions for a batter and the 22-year-old is weighing his worth in gold.

Bangladesh have got the big wicket of Rishabh Pant and the usual suspect Hasan Mahmud is continuing to hurt India with his solid line and length. KL Rahul needs to stitch up a partnership along with the already set Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Hasan Mahmud strikes again as he dismisses the set batter Rishabh Pant. KL Rahul is the new batter. He bowls a dot ball to KL Rahul. KL Rahul ends the over by taking a single as the ball goes towards deep square leg.

The players of both the teams return to the field after Lunch. Hasan Mehmud Comes Back into the attack. He bowls a dot ball to Yashasvi Jaiswal. He bowls his third consecutive dot ball as Yashasvi Jaiswal is seen struggling. It is turning out to be a maiden over. It is a brilliant maiden over.

Bangladesh pacer-led by the 24-year-old Hasan Mahmud dismantled the decorated Indian top-order consisting of Kohli, Rohit and Gill. However, a strong response from Pant and Jaiswal have somewhat provided a damage-controlling aid in the innings. As India stand at 88/3 at lunch, stay tuned for the riveting second session of day 1 here at the Chepauk.

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hasan Shanto has introduced spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz into the attack. However, both Pant and Jaiswal have shown their intent and aggression towards him.

Nahid is the new bowler. Rishabh Pant welcomes him by smashing a four as the ball goes towards long-off. Pant takes a single on the next ball. He was also seen getting involved in an onfield spat with Litton Das. Six runs have been scored in this over.

Hasan Mahmud is brought back into the attack and just four runs are scored in it. India brings up its fifty!

Hasan Mehmud is back into the attack. Pant welcomes him by taking three runs as the ball goes towards long-off. Mehmud again makes an appeal for a dismissal but the on-field umpire isn't interested. He ends the over by bowling a dot ball to Jaiswal.

Hasan Mehmud strikes again as he dismisses the new batter Virat Kohli. Rishabh Pant is the next batter. Mehmud bowls a dot ball to Pant. A maiden over from Hasan Mehmud.

Shubman Gill is the new batter after Hasan Mehmud dismissed Rohit Sharma in the previous over. Jaiswal takes a single as the ball goes towards mid-on. Taskin then bowls a dot ball to Jaiswal. Jaiswal ends the over by smashing a four as the ball goes towards deep square leg.

Mehidy Hasan is the new bowler. And he immediately makes ab appeal for lbw against Rohit Sharma and skipper Shanto goes for the review. Rohit survives a nervy scare. The Indian fans breath a sigh of relief. Hasan then bowls a dot ball to Rohit. Rohit ends the over by smashing a four as the ball goes long off.

The players have entered the field after the national anthems of both the teams were sung. Yashasvi Jaiswal would be opening India's innings along with skipper Rohit Sharma. Taskin Ahmed would be opening Bangladesh's bowling attack. He bowled a dot ball to Jaiswal. Taskin bowled the third consecutive dot ball. Jaiswal takes a single as the ball goes towards short leg. Taskin ends the over by bowling a dot ball to Rohit. A good over from Taskin as just one run is scored.

Bangladesh have won the toss and have choosen to bowl first. Here's the playing XI of both the teams.

India's Playing XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj.

Bangladesh's Playing XI: Shadman Islam, Zakir Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto(c), Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das(w), Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Nahid Rana

It might and in that case, ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah would be accompanied by Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep, unless India spring a surprise and hand a debut to Yash Dayal.

Ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah is the highest wicket-taker for India in Tests this year: 27 in 5 matches at an average of 15.

Every team is strong at home and it is no stranger for India. But this time they will have to tread carefully. The last time India toured Bangladesh, which was comeback man Rishabh Pant's last Test before the accident, the visitors were put in troublesome situations at times.

Two years back Bangladesh defeated New Zealand for the first time in a Test. It was a huge statement. Since then, they have beaten Ireland and Afghanistan in one-off Tests, have drawn with the Kiwis at home and then came the big Pakistan win.

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the 1st Test match between India and Bangladesh, which would be held at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from 9:30 a.m. The toss would be held at 9:00 a.m.
