DC-W vs GG-W WPL 2025: DC captain Meg Lanning scored a gritty knock of 92 runs and helped her team post a respectable target of 177 against GG during their WPL match on Friday.
While batting first, Lanning (92 off 57 balls; 15x4s, 1x6) and Shafali Varma (40 off 27; 3x4s, 3x6s) stitched a partnership of 83 runs and gave the team a flying start.
However, Phoebe Litchfield got Shafali out as she mistimed a shot in Meghna Singh's over.
At the same time, Lanning stuck to the other end and continued batting aggressively.
DC did lose Jemimah Rodrigues and Jess Jonassen quickly but Lanning held the fort from one end.
Annabel Sutherland (14 off 8, 2x4s) did help Lanning for a while but she too mistimed a shot and was dismissed.
Lanning fell short of her well-deserved hundred as Deandra Dottin dismissed her during the 19th over.
Lanning left a slower, back-of-length ball and mistimed the shot.
Meghana was the pick among the GG bowlers as she registered figures of (3/35), whereas Dottin took two wickets.
