England vs India 2nd Test: Prasidh Krishna had a horrible outing with the ball on the third day of the second Test between India and England at Edgbaston on Friday.

While Prasidh was hit for huge runs earlier in the day by Jamie Smith and Harry Brook, the Indian pacer faced massive criticism on social media for not providing support to fellow pacers Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep.

Resuming their first innings from 77/3, England were reduced to 84/5 after Siraj removed Joe Root (22) and Ben Stokes (0) in quick succession in just the second over of the day. However, Jamie Smith and Harry Brook came up with an impressive recovery and took the hosts past the 300-run mark with an outstanding partnership for the sixth wicket.

While the Indian pacers had a tough day at the office, Krishna bore the maximum brunt with an economy of over 6. It was the 32nd over of the English innings when Smith launched a brutal assault on the Indian quick, smashing him for [4, 6, 4, 4, 4] 23 runs in five deliveries. The match-up between Krishna and Smith was intense. The pacer tried to trouble Smith with a barrage of short balls, but the latter looked ready for it. The England wicketkeeper-batter stayed one step ahead, pulling and hooking with ease, sending the ball racing to the boundary multiple times.

Here's how netizens reacted on social media to criticise Prasidh Krishna:

Both Smith and Brook smashed their respective centuries to frustrate the Indian bowlers. At the time of writing, Krishna had been hit for 72 runs in his 13 overs. Smith looked more comfortable in the middle as he took on spinners as well, hitting multiple boundaries to complete his hundred in just 80 balls.

Earlier, India were bowled out for 587 runs after a commendable batting effort. Skipper Shubman Gill led from the front and smashed his maiden Test double century and went on to play a 269-run knock with the help of 30 fours and 3 sixes.
