England vs India Tests: England have announced their squad for the upcoming fourth Test against India, which is scheduled to be played at Old Trafford in Manchester.

England produced a remarkable performance at Lord's and defeated India by 22 runs in the third Test to go 2-1 up in the five-match series on Monday. The notable change has come in their squad with Liam Dawson making his return to the Test side. Dawson has replaced Shoaib Bashir in the side.

Bashir, who took the last wicket of the Lord's Test to give England a famous win, has been ruled out of the remaining two Test matches against India due to a finger injury. The right-arm spinner took a blow on his finger while bowling in the first innings. The injury kept him off the field in the second innings too, and he could only bowl 5.5 overs. Following the game, the England Cricket Board confirmed that Bashir would undergo finger surgery and miss the last two Tests, to be played from July 23 and 31 in Manchester and London, respectively.

Talking about the replacement, Dawson has been called up to join the Ben Stokes-led side. The 25-year-old all-rounder has played 3 Tests, 6 ODIs and 14 T20Is. He made his T20I debut in the Chennai Test against India in Chennai. Karun Nair slammed a triple-century in that fixture. Dawson last played in a Test in July 2017 and will be looking to add to his tally of 7 wickets in the longest format of the game if he gets a chance to play in Manchester.

Dawson has been a consistent performer for Hampshire in recent years. He was named PCA Player of the Year in 2023 and 2024.

"Liam Dawson deserves his call-up. He has been in outstanding form in the County Championship and consistently puts in strong performances for Hampshire,” said England selector Luke Wright.

On the other hand, Sam Cook and Jamie Overton have been released from the 14-member squad. Neither player got any chance in any of the first three Test matches.

The Lord's Test witnessed thrilling and intense action from the players of both teams throughout the five days. However, the hosts came out on top in the end as they bowled India out for 170 runs while defending the 193-run target. England skipper Ben Stokes was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his impactful all-round performance.
