The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced a 15-member squad for the third and final Test against Pakistan, which will be played at Edgbaston from September 9.

Fast bowler Brydon Carse has once again been left out of the squad. Carse was not available for selection after being arrested outside a bar in Derby. He was later de-arrested, but the incident led to his withdrawal from England’s squad for the second Test at Lord’s.

A video of Carse being taken away from the bar in handcuffs had emerged following the incident. Police later confirmed that he had been arrested and subsequently released.

Sonny Baker was brought into the squad as Carse’s replacement for the second Test and has now kept his place for the series finale. The only change to England’s 15-member group is the omission of fast bowler Matt Fisher.

Pakistan, meanwhile, have made sweeping changes to their squad and coaching staff after losing the first two Tests. The visitors suffered a heavy defeat in the opening match before England won the second Test at Lord’s by 194 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released seven players following the Lord’s defeat. Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Agha, Ali Usman, Aamer Jamal, Awais Zafar and Khurram Shahzad have all been left out.

In their place, Pakistan have added five uncapped players, Arafat Minhas, Mohammad Imran Jnr, Saad Baig, Mohammad Imran Randhawa and Razaullah. Saim Ayub and Abdullah Fazal have also been brought into the squad, although the pair have only 10 Test matches of combined experience.

Pakistan have also made changes to their coaching staff. Mike Hesson and Ashley Noffke, who are already part of the team’s white-ball coaching set-up, have taken charge as head coach and bowling coach respectively.

The third Test will therefore see a very different Pakistan side take on an England team that already have the series in the bag.
