In an interesting recent development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) Jay Shah is considering strict action against the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) if they refuse to tour India for the T20 World Cup 2026, citing security concerns.
According to ANI, a source to ICC said, "ICC Chairman Jay Shah to contemplate strict action against Bangladesh if they do not agree to tour India for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. ICC Chairman in Dubai for final call."
The dispute began when the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) requested to shift their matches from India to Sri Lanka after the BCCI asked Kolkata Knight Riders to release Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman.
In a last-ditch effort to shift their T20 World Cup matches from India to Sri Lanka, BCB appealed to the International Cricket Council's (ICC) independent dispute resolution committee.
On Thursday, Bangladesh's interim government and its sports ministry advisor Asif Nazrul had announced that the team wouldn't tour India due to "security reasons."
