Colombo Weather Report, India vs Pakistan Match: India and Pakistan are all set to be in action as they face off in match 27 of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026 at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, February 15. The buildup of this marquee fixture has been incredibly controversial, especially after the Pakistan Cricket Board hinted at the possible boycott of the match as a gesture of solidarity for Bangladesh.

However, after weeks of negotiations between the ICC and the PCB, the match was finally given a go ahead. Both teams have won two matches each, and a win on Sunday will more or less ensure a Super 8 entry. However, the news has been massively concerning from Colombo, as the India vs Pakistan match could witness an interruption. The Sri Lanka Department of Meteorology has warned of a low-pressure system developing in the Bay of Bengal, which indicates a high risk of rain that could disrupt the marquee World Cup game on Sunday evening.

As per the weather forecast, there are going to be warm and humid conditions to start the day, with temperatures peaking around 30° to 31°C. However, scattered thunderstorms are predicted throughout the afternoon, with a 50-70% chance of rain. While the match is scheduled to start at 7 PM local time, there will likely be thundershowers in the hours before the scheduled start, which might lead to a delayed toss or a shortened game.

While clouds are expected to hover around consistently during the India vs Pakistan game, some forecasts indicate a slight clearing trend after 8 pm, though isolated showers remain possible through the night. Notably, the R.Premadasa Stadium has an impressive drainage system and specialised ground staff protocols designed to handle Colombo's tropical downpours. And unlike many international venues that only cover the pitch, the Premadasa has enough covers to protect the entire playing area. This prevents the outfield from soaking up water in the first place.

There's also some rain expected the day before the much-awaited fixture, on Saturday, which could disrupt India's scheduled training session at the ground.
