Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s son has appealed to the international community, saying his father urgently needs medical treatment after spending around 1,100 days in custody.
Imran Khan, 73, the former Pakistan captain who later entered politics, is being held in solitary confinement at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. He was first arrested on August 5, 2023, after an Islamabad trial court found him guilty in the Toshakhana corruption case. Since then, he has been arrested and convicted in several other cases and has remained behind bars.
The Pakistan government stopped all meetings with Imran Khan in December 2025 after he reportedly described Field Marshal General Asim Munir as a “mentally unstable man” during a meeting with one of his sisters.
He also criticised Pakistan’s military-backed establishment, saying, “But this is not just about a father. It is about Pakistan, and its future.”
Earlier this year in February, reports said Imran Khan suffered major vision loss in his right eye because treatment for a blood clot was delayed while he was in custody. According to his legal team, he now has only about 15 per cent vision in that eye. His lawyers and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) raised concerns over his medical care, following which Pakistan’s Supreme Court ordered a medical board to examine him.

His family and PTI leaders have repeatedly criticised the authorities over his solitary confinement and the restrictions on access to independent doctors.
The Pakistan government has denied the allegations and said Imran Khan is receiving the medical care he needs.
In February, 14 former international cricket captains also wrote a letter to the Pakistan government titled Appeal by Former International Cricket Captains, calling for fair treatment of Imran Khan.
