Indian swashbuckling batter Suryakumar Yadav who is serving as the current captain for the T20I series against Australia, is eyeing records set by Virat Kohli in the format. After two back-to-back wins in the ongoing series, Suryakumar is on the brink of breaking two significant T20I records held by Kohli.

The No.1 ranked T20 batsman, Suryakumar Yadav, showcased his prowess in the first game by scoring an impressive 80 runs from 42 balls. While his second outing was shorter, with a 19-run contribution from 10 balls, Suryakumar is now closing in on Kohli's records.

Suryakumar needs just 60 more runs to reach the milestone of 2000 runs in T20Is. If he accomplishes this feat in the upcoming matches, he will become the fastest Indian to achieve 2000 runs in T20I cricket. Kohli took 56 innings to reach this mark, while Suryakumar has scored 1940 runs in 52 innings, giving him four innings to potentially break the record. Additionally, he could become the second fastest globally, behind Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, who achieved the feat in 52 innings.

The swashbuckling batter is also eyeing Kohli's record for the most runs in a T20I series by an Indian. While he is not on the verge of breaking this record just yet, Suryakumar has scored 99 runs in the first two matches of the series, leaving him 133 runs away from Kohli's record of 231 runs in a T20I series against England in 2021. With Suryakumar's current series average of nearly 50, he has a realistic chance of surpassing Kohli's record with potentially 150 more runs in the series.

As Suryakumar Yadav continues to impress with his batting prowess, he not only leads India in their pursuit of victory but also aims to etch his name in the record books, following in the footsteps of the legendary Virat Kohli.
