IND vs NZ: India's star batter Tilak Varma had to undergo surgery after suffering from an abdominal issue on Wednesday. He was then released from the hospital on Thursday and will be going back to Hyderabad on Friday. He is currently recovering well.
Tilak will start his rehab and will eventually return to skill-based activity after he has fully recovered.
He has been ruled out of the first three T20Is against the Kiwis. His participation in the next two matches will be analysed based on his rehab.

“Tilak Varma underwent surgery for an abdominal issue in Rajkot on Wednesday, 7 January. He was discharged from the hospital on Thursday morning and is scheduled to fly back to Hyderabad on Friday. He is currently stable and progressing well. Tilak will resume physical training and gradually return to skill-based activities once his symptoms have fully resolved and wound healing is satisfactory," a statement released by BCCI said.
He underwent the surgery one day after playing the Vijay Hazare Trophy clash against Bengal. According to reports, he had to undergo testicular surgery, but didn't sustain the injury in the match.
He then felt some pain afterwards, and for that, he underwent scans.

The BCCI hasn't revealed his replacement yet.
This is a huge blow for the host since Tilak is one of the mainstays of the T20 team, and the World Cup is just a month away.
The Men in Blue will begin their title defense against the USA in their tournament opener in Mumbai.
He has played for India in this format regularly last year and has scored 567 runs at an average of 47.25. He performed brilliantly against arch-rival Pakistan during the summit clash of the Asia Cup 2025.
