Asian Games 2026 Final: Abhishek Sharma once again turned on the power as India faced Pakistan in the Asian Games 2026 gold-medal match, producing a blistering 61 off just 28 balls at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.
The left-hander smashed three fours and seven sixes, powering India to a strong start before his dismissal. His attacking knock also saw him rewrite several T20 records, including a milestone previously held by West Indies great Chris Gayle.

Abhishek Surpasses Chris Gayle For 400 T20 Sixes
Abhishek reached 400 sixes in T20 cricket during his assault on Pakistan. More significantly, he got there in just 3,513 balls, making him the second-fastest batter to reach 400 T20 sixes, behind Andre Russell.
In doing so, Abhishek moved past Gayle, who had reached the landmark in 3,557 balls. Kieron Pollard and Tim David are among the other batters behind the Indian opener on the list.
The milestone is another indication of Abhishek's remarkable six-hitting consistency. He had already produced a record-breaking 30-ball T20I century against Afghanistan in September, becoming the fastest Indian to reach the landmark in the format.
Seven Sixes Equals Yuvraj Singh’s Record
Abhishek's seven sixes against Pakistan also put him alongside Yuvraj Singh for the most sixes by an Indian batter in a single T20I against Pakistan.
Yuvraj had smashed seven sixes against Pakistan in Ahmedabad in 2012, and Abhishek matched that tally in Nisshin. The latest innings also took Abhishek's tally to 14 sixes against Pakistan in T20Is, moving him past Virat Kohli's previous Indian record of 11.
Fastest 100 Sixes In A Calendar Year
The Pakistan final also saw Abhishek complete another remarkable milestone. He became the second-fastest batter to hit 100 T20 sixes in a calendar year, reaching the mark in 651 balls in 2026.
Only Andre Russell, who needed 589 balls in 2019, reached 100 T20 sixes faster. Abhishek therefore moved ahead of Dewald Brevis, Chris Gayle and Karanbir Singh on the list.
His 61 also helped India post 211/6, their highest-ever T20I total against Pakistan. Tilak Varma added an unbeaten 51 off 22 balls, while Shivam Dube contributed 27 from 15 as India finished with a powerful total in the gold-medal clash.
For Abhishek, the Pakistan final continued a remarkable run of record-breaking performances in 2026, with his explosive batting now adding another chapter to one of India's most productive T20 seasons.
